"When you get in the dry and weary land, you need to know there is a God who has a song for that moment, too." -Louie Giglio
(Sydney, Australia)—Speaking at the recent Hillsong Conference in Sydney, evangelist Louie Giglio bared his soul, detailing how praise was instrumental in delivering him from a season of dark depression.
According to a Christian Post report, Giglio's health was impacted after the death of loved ones, while he was in the middle of a church plant. The worst part of it, said Giglio, lasted about two months. (Photo: Hillsong)
Of that time, he said, "It started a journey for me… I didn't know what to do and every day was a different symptom, every day was a different manifestation of something… I was going crazy."
Then, one night, he said he woke up in a "dark cloud" of panic and cried out, "God, please help me."
"A little song started bubbling up in my heart," he said. "Just four lines: Be still my soul, there is a healer. His love is deeper than the sea. His mercy is unfailing. His arms a fortress for the weak. And then," he added, "there was this little phrase, 'I lift my hands to believe again.'"
