According to the report, Manby was raised "in very humble circumstances in Michigan," and later became a Rhodes Scholar finalist, eventually receiving his M.B.A. From Harvard Business School.

He was quoted as telling conference attendees that the cutthroat pressures of the business world got to him at one point leaving him exhausted physically, emotionally and spiritually.

"I remember thinking," he said, "There has got to be a better way than this. All I saw was this relentless dichotomy between people and profits. I wanted to be the same person at home and at work and when I practice my faith."

With his new company, Herschend, Manby strives for it to be a business that is unselfish with employees and customers and practice Godly qualities such as patience, kindness and dedication.
