NFL Player Austin Carr Retires to Follow the Voice of God

Christel Berns : Oct 18, 2021  GODTV.com

"A wise man once said, 'If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.' It's not always easy, but it's always right for us to put our total trust in Jesus Christ. Here's to the next season of life, stepping out onto the water of His calling." -Austin Carr

Austin Carr Retires from NFL

In a post shared by the Christian athlete on Sports Spectrum, Austin Carr announced his NFL career's turn of the page. He shared his determination to follow God's direction at this moment of his life. Even if that meant retiring from playing professional football.

"After much prayer and consideration, I've decided that it's time to turn the page on my career in the NFL," Austin wrote. "It feels surreal to be moving on from this 20-year stint of lacing up the cleats every fall. But I'm committed to following the voice of God."

Then the 27-year-old revealed how God's direction has become so clear to him at this point of his life. He said, "It has become clear that up ahead, He has a new and exciting future prepared for my family and me."

Grateful to People in the Journey

Austin also expressed his gratefulness to several people for supporting him throughout his NFL career. He thanked his agent, teammates, coaches, staff, and especially his family.

"To my family, words cannot express how grateful I am for your love, sacrifice. And support from youth football practices on Springs Road to the Superdome on Sundays," he wrote.

Further, he special mentioned his wife, Erica, for her love and care by playing so many roles just for him.

And above all, Austin praised God "who has protected, guided and loved" him throughout the journey.

"You are eternally worthy of all glory, honor and praise from these undeserving lips," he declared. "Truly, I can sing with the psalmist, 'Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness!' (Psalm 115:1)."

In the end, Austin then stressed how important it is to trust in Jesus Christ no matter what ultimately.

"A wise man once said, 'If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.' It's not always easy, but it's always right for us to put our total trust in Jesus Christ. Here's to the next season of life, stepping out onto the water of His calling," he concluded. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
