John Ellis, a church elder from Arlington, VA, explained that his 8-year-old son, excited by what he was reading in the Book of Daniel, decided to toss his Bible into his school bag and share the story with his classmates at the next show and tell. But when his big moment came, he was ruthlessly shut down by the teacher.

I found out that my son took his Bible to school for show-and-tell last week. He wanted to share with his class what he has been reading. Keep in mind, he goes to a public school in ultra-progressive Northern Virginia. I wish I could've seen the look on the teacher's face.

Ellis recalled the heartbreaking situation in a column at PJ Media, noting that he had no idea his son had taken the Bible to school:

"The teacher stopped me from speaking," my son sadly said, "and went on to the next person. I didn't get to tell them about Daniel."

You see, my son had been reading the book of Daniel and wanted to tell his friends about it. It was important to him.
