"The police and troops are doing their part, but only Believers can fight the spiritual battle."
(Baghdad, Iraq)-There are, no doubt, many groups and individuals, let alone military family members, who keep a constant vigil of prayer over Iraq, the troops, and the War on Terror.
I felt it important to underline the efforts of one such intercessory collaboration, which encourages prayer for the embattled country, while offering some effective strategic helps, as well as inspiring testimonies. That is the Baghdad Prayer Patrol.
All of us are busy, however most all of us can spare one minute to pray for the situation in Iraq. As the website aptly states, "The police and troops are doing their part, but only Believers can fight the spiritual battle." Subscribers can opt for a one-minute prayer to be delivered to their inbox, daily.
The website also offers maps that outline insurgency "hotspots" and a special page for "Field Reports," and Prayer Patrol Progress. Scrolling down on that page, there are some amazing testimonies of God's protection, including one from the mother of a soldier in Baghdad, who was shot during a street patrol....
"He was shot in the arm and the bullet went BETWEEN the 2 bones in the right arm and hit no major arteries or bone. God is awesome! He is recovered and [is] now back out with his team.
"I appreciate so much the prayer support your web site generates for our men and women that are out fighting this war. I pray God will richly bless you and your family for your efforts!"
I join this mother in appreciation for the Baghdad Prayer Patrol, as well as the many other similar prayer groups that exist, and I'm prompted to step up the intercession for this battle.
As James reminded us, "...the fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) avails much."
