South Korean Christians Pray Their "Peace Festival" in Afghanistan Will Not be Thwarted

About 1,500 South Korean Christians, including 600 children, have traveled to Afghanistan for a "Peace Festival" due to start this weekend, but more Christians hoping to attend are praying that the country will not turn them away. The festival was reportedly intended to encourage South Koreans to help Afghanistan.
An AFP report says the evangelical group insists that it has gathered hundreds of people in war-ravaged Afghanistan purely to promote peace and reconstruction, but the South Korean government is worried about a backlash and is now urging them to leave.
"We want Korean people to be involved in Afghanistan reconstruction more than ever ... we wanted to make a big point for more Koreans not to be afraid of Afghanistan," he said. "We are not against the policies of Afghanistan. We respect and we love Afghanistan," he added.
