According to a story on Christian Newswire, Left BehindĀ® authors Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have decided to use the number most commonly associated with the antichrist as the release date for their new novel, The Rapture.
"Why not make the connection?" said Jenkins. "Our novels use the Book of Revelation as a framework and it's in Revelation 13:18 that 666 is used in reference to the antichrist. The funny thing is that number never appears anywhere in our books."
He explained how they were able to use the ominous 6-6-6 number in their book, without being too obvious.
"Almost every significant number in the story is the sum, remainder, product, or divisor of 666, i.e., 6+6+6, 6-6-6, 6x6x6, etc. In this case, 216 = 6x6x6." The number 216 is reportedly used often in regard to the antichrist character Nicolae Carpathia.
If you're wondering, like I was, why the latest in their series would be titled The Rapture, when that was the subject that started it all, it's because this book is the third in the prequel series of three. The novels reportedly explore choices made by key characters in the books, in the days, minutes and hours before the Rapture occurs.
