Stephen Sawyer is first an artist and writer, but also the owner and speaker of Art for God, an organization that encourages Christian artisans in their talents and gifting. Though starting with humble beginnings, Sawyer's ministry is now bearing fruit in the form of the "National Christian Art Competition," (NCAC) which began in 2004.

Ministry The NCAC's purpose is to welcome all levels of artistic progress. "We do not tell artists what to create; we just say 'CREATE,'" says Sawyer. "This year we gave out $3,000 in Cash Awards and over $3,000 in gifts to the winners."

Ministry Artistic works are featured on Sawyer's website: www.ARTFORGOD.com , and in the Art for God Gallery in Gatlenburg, Tenn. The age range of those artists who entered the competition was from 18 to 78. Some were professional artists, some home schooled students, others were students in college and moms who decided to paint.

Ministry "These are men and women of great depth who have shared their personal testimonies in word and art and have touched many people already. Sharing their vision with the world is long past due. I knew the National Christian Art Competition needed to exist," Sawyer said. "As with most endeavors that truly serve others, it takes longer, is more expensive, and far more difficult than we can anticipate. But God knows I am willing and with the help of family and friends; we can do great and mighty deeds in service to our Creative Heavenly Father who is the first and most wonderful artist."
