I just learned that the month of April, for the 16th consecutive year, is labeled Stress Awareness Month. At the risk of offending anyone, I must admit my first reaction was one of, "Just what we need. Yet another attempt to 'raise awareness' for some affliction which everyone is aware of anyway."
Ever feel that way? Bombarded by so many external demands on your time and attention that you begin to feel, well, stressed about it?
The article, however, not only gave helpful tips on relieving personal stress, but gave great tips on what we can do to help others experience less stress in their lives. According to the report in the Christian Post, Community Chaplains of America, which provides care for individuals during difficult and stressful situations, has offered 10 simple suggestions on how to provide care, and essentially reduce stress, for someone in the community.
Brilliant in their simplicity, the tips include: listening to others, sending encouraging notes, saying "thank-you," laughing, smiling, sharing—and imagine this—praying.
