(Parksley, Virginia)—A "divine" revelation came to Eunice Warrington as she was digging up a turnip bed before an onset of winter snows. She believes it was a "sign from God." (Photo by: Stephen Furness)
Referring to her discovery of one massive turnip that was the size of her head, Warrington says: "I thought to myself, 'I've never seen a turnip that big.' I couldn't believe my eyes. There were hundreds of little turnips all around, and this one was growing next to them."
According to a report in the Delmarva Daily Times Parksley, an employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), hopes to open a local soup kitchen after she retires. She also wants to teach young parents how to properly prepare meals for themselves and their children.
"God gave me that turnip to me to say: 'Hey, help feed the poor,'" she said. "And not to just feed ... but teach them. These young people are our future. The parents of tomorrow should know how to provide for their children."
"Give me a fish and I will eat for a day, but teach me to fish and I will eat forever," she said. "This turnip reminded me of that."
