Here's Why Christians Everywhere—Including Vice-President Pence's Daughter—Painted Red X's on Their Hands Last Week

The notable red X is part of the "END IT Movement," an initiative started in 2013 out of the Passion Conference in Atlanta, to shine a light on modern-day slavery.

At the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday, Gary Haugen, International Justice Mission CEO and keynote speaker, who was wearing a red X pin, explained the movement to the attendees.

"Modern slavery is as vast and as brutal as it has ever been, but one thing is new: we now know how to stop it for good," Haugen told the audience.

President Donald Trump thanked Haugen and IJM for their work, saying, "You are truly doing the Lord's work," while commending them for "rescuing people from the bondage of human trafficking."

"And as you know our administration is doing everything we can to make your work easier ... ," Trump added. "Together, we will end the scourge of modern-day slavery."

The movement was commemorated on Thursday by many Christian leaders, including pastors, worship artists and politicians.
