According to new Gallup polls this week, more than half of all Americans believe that abortion should be illegal in all or most situations.
From May 1-10 Gallup ran their annual Values and Beliefs poll, where they found that a majority of Americans believed that pornography and polygamy are morally right, but surprisingly a majority stated that they believe abortion is morally wrong.
Abortion has been a hot-button topic for decades and remains to be one of the biggest single issues that Americans vote on. Just recently, Iowa passed a new law that makes it illegal to have an abortion once a doctor can detect a heartbeat, which happens early on in a pregnancy.
Unfortunately, the law is on hold, due to a legal challenge. Arkansas also recently implemented a ban on abortion pills, which was held up by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Gallup poll detailed that 53% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal in all or most situations, while a much lesser amount, only 43%, believe abortion should be legal in all or most situations.
