Not only that, but Doyle announced the Democrats want to host a post-game dinner for the Republicans to honor them.

"This is a game that has been played off and on for approximately 100 years," said Barton. "We are united, not as Republicans and Democrats, but as United States representatives."

According to 1london.net, Every year the game pits Republicans versus Democrats, with members often sporting the uniform of their home states' teams, for a night of bipartisan fun that raises money for charity.

Doyle was quoted as lightening up the mood by saying: "Players on both sides want to do that, they think it's the right thing to do. I did tell Joe [Barton] that I love him before the game, and I love him after the game, but during the game, we're going to play to win and I know Joe's team is going to do the same thing and charities are going to benefit." (Photo: Teresa Neumann-author, BCN journalist)
