Inspectors who came to the building to check for structural damage heard some faint whimpers from beneath the ruins. That's when a Venezuelan rescue team was called in to pull Manuel Vasquez from the rubble.

Disoriented and dehydrated, the man from Manabi province was taken immediately to the hospital. Vasquez suffered some kidney damage and he lost some toes, but doctors expect him to survive.

The death toll from the April 16 quake has now reached at least 660. And now more than two weeks later, many survivors are still enduring primitive conditions. (Screengrab via CBN News)
