"Knowing the risks to their own safety, they put the life of the F-16 pilot first and made what could have been an international tragedy a feel-good news story." -US Air Force commander Lt. Col. Eric Hallberg

(The Middle East)—Due to national security reasons details are sketchy, but reports reveal the pilot of an F-16 (his nationality undisclosed) was recently involved in a dire situation over ISIS territory when his fuel system malfunctioned during an inflight refueling procedure. According to a Sky News report, "instead of leaving the pilot to cope with the emergency himself," the US Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker crew came to his rescue, escorting the handicapped pilot back to his base while refueling his jet for him every 15 minutes.

Said US Air Force commander Lt. Col. Eric Hallberg, "Knowing the risks to their own safety, they put the life of the F-16 pilot first and made what could have been an international tragedy a feel-good news story."

The report also noted that the US Air Force did not reveal where the incident took place.
