Noting that dozens of the kidnapped girls were still alive, the girl stated that, "All of us were forced to become Muslims but kept in camps far from each other. You can only see and recognize those in your camp as any of us who refused being Islamized was either beheaded or shot at point blank range."

She reportedly told the authorities that of the girls who still remained in the hands of Boko Haram, many are pregnant and/or have contracted diseases from being raped.

The Nigerian authorities are said to be dismissing the girl's claim that she escaped, but according to a Fox News report...

The issue could be a sensitive one, as the Nigerian military has been under intense pressure to save the girls and crack down on the terrorist group, which has committed dozens of atrocities in the northern part of the country. If an escapee has conveyed useful information, it is possible the government wanted to keep it under wraps.

It is believed that many of the kidnapped girls were sold into slavery, and the rest are being held captive somewhere in the Samibisa National Forest.

A Christian Post report noted that Boko Haram may be weakening, and there is an ongoing military campaign against them, which keeps them "moving around from camp to camp, planting mines and other explosive devices."
