"I think [Paul Ryan] could unite everybody." -Rep. Kevin McCarthy

Headlines across the board today have been focused on the turmoil among Republican Representatives in the U.S. House, after the "handpicked successor to Speaker John Boehner"—Kevin McCarthy—announced that he would not take the job. (Screengrab photo: Rep. Paul Ryan/via MSNBC)

McCarthy made the "political bombshell" known on Thursday saying, "I think I shocked some of you, huh? The one thing I found in talking to everybody—if we are gonna unite and be strong, we need a new face to help do that."

That new face may be in the form of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan.

Although, the Wisconsin Congressman had formerly stated he didn't want to be House Speaker, Ryan has received much pressure to reconsider, and is reportedly taking the weekend to think about it.

Also in the running for Speaker of the House is Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah), who stated he would withdraw his bid if Ryan did accept the nomination.

Speaker of the House of Representatives is being called "the hardest job in Washington," since it involves the work of bringing together a party that has been somewhat factioned of late.

This is an important position, especially as the 2016 presidential race looms on the horizon; it's definitely a matter about which to be praying:

...For God's direction and choosing of the right person for the job.
