"Tilikum" is a Chinook word meaning people, tribe or family. The span's nickname is "Bridge of the People." A new local ministry prayer coalition called PDX Prays took advantage of the opportunity to hold a prayer walk for the city that day.

Participants gathered at nearby Waterfront Four-square Church on the west side of the Willamette River to start the walk, cross over the stunning 1,720-foot span and then come back for reports and more prayer.

Among those taking part were Lynn Hare, [who] touched the bridge railing as she beseeched God to do a fresh work in the Rose City, and James Autry, executive director of the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest.
