The desperate exodus of refugees from Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East, fleeing the terror of ISIS, and seeking shelter and safety in Europe, has reached monumental—even "Biblical"—proportions, according to reports. (Photo: Reuters/via The Guardian)

That news took a very human and personal turn on Thursday, with the posting of a tragic photo of a Turkish police officer carrying the body of a little boy who had reportedly drown when the rowboat he and his brother were in capsized. His brother also died in the sea off the coast of Turkey.

The boy—3-year-old Aylan Kurdi—had been found "lying face down in the surf," according to a Reuters report. Aylan's family is thought to have fled the embattled city of Kobani, Syria, where Kurdish forces had fought off a devastating attack by ISIS.

Refugees and Migrants have been pouring into countries like Turkey, Greece and Hungary, with many hoping to reach Germany, which has said it can take in some 800,000 refugees.

One report noted an estimate by aid groups that about 2,000 people per day have made the journey to Greece's eastern islands via "rubber boats." (Photo by: Laszlo Balogh/Reuters/migrants and refugees crowd onto a train in Budapest)

U.K. Independence Party leader Nigel Farage told the BBC, "The problem we've got is we've opened the door to an exodus of Biblical proportions, meaning millions and millions of refugees ...if you look at the definition of the EU's common asylum policy it includes anyone fleeing from a war torn country and it even includes people fleeing extreme poverty."

News reports from Hungary showed workers erecting a fence with razor wire along its border with Serbia, and hundreds have reportedly been stopped in Budapest from boarding trains to travel north, due to a lack of proper documentation.

Please be praying for this desperate situation for all concerned.
