"She's just very caring, very selfless, and we wanted to be selfless, too."

(Bethlehem, NH)—When Principal Courtney Vashaw had to reveal to her junior and senior students why she would be gone for a while—her diagnosis of an aggressive form of cancer—she never expected the heartwarming response she received. (Screenshot via abc11.com)

Upon hearing the sad and startling news about their much-loved principal, the senior class of Bethlehem's Profile high school decided to vote on the idea of donating all the money raised for their senior class trip to Vashaw's medical expenses.

The vote to donate the money raised was unanimous.

So the seniors gathered around Principal Vashaw and told her they were donating the nearly $8,000 to her, to help pay her medical bills for treatment.

Student Ian Baker told Vashaw, "We decided to not go on our senior class trip this year and donate all of our funds to your cause." She was overwhelmed and "brought to tears," according to the ABC report.

Senior class president, Christopher Sirois noted, "Every one of us has a connection with her, and she has given so much to us that we just wanted to give back."
