(Israel)—[CBNNews.com] It appears gay marriage will now be allowed in Alabama.

On Friday, a judge overturned the ban on same-sex marriage in one of the most socially conservative states in the country, often called "The buckle of the Bible Belt."

However, gay couples in Alabama who were hoping to get married Monday are being told, "Not so fast."

They'll have to wait a couple of weeks, until Feb. 9. A judge issued a stay to give time for some legal details of the ruling to be decided.

Alabama is one of 37 states remaining where gay marriage has not yet been legalized.
