Southeast Asia is reportedly one of the top destinations for evangelists from South Korea.

(Indonesia)—In September, just a few months ago, Christian evangelists Park Seong-beom and his wife Lee Kyung-hwa had moved with their baby daughter Park Yuna from their home in Korea to following their calling to the mission field in East Java. (Photo: Reuters/Beawiharta/via Christian Post)

Flying to Singapore to renew their visas, they were on AirAsia flight QZ 8501 that went missing on Sunday in the Java Sea. Now, as wreckage from the plane has been found and recovery operations are underway, Christians throughout South Korea, particularly in the city of Yeosu where the family was from, are keeping a prayer vigil.

Said Pastor Kim Jong Heon of Yeosu Church, "He [Park Seong-beom] was strong in his faith and wanted to be of service to people more than anything... We are devastated that he and his family are missing."
