(Marysville, WA)—Friday morning turned very dark for Marysville, Washington residents when a student opened fire in the cafeteria of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

One student was killed and four others were injured, three critically, in the shooting; the student then turned the gun on himself, and is reported deceased.

An eyewitness, Alex, was in the cafeteria when Jaylen Fryberg began to fire.

"I was eating and I hear four gunshots," Alex later told KOMO News. "So I look behind me and I saw a gun pointing at this one kid who I knew... As soon as everyone saw the gun or heard the gunshots, they ran toward the wall. Some kids ran out the exit that I ran out of."

"I ran first for the wall, and then I thought, 'I'm not staying in here.' So I ran out and called my mom," she added.

It was only last June when another school shooting took place in the Seattle area, at Seattle Pacific University.
