Find Out Why The ACLU Just Decided (For Now) Not to Pursue Legal Action against Hitching Post Ministers Who Won't Perform Gay Weddings

(Idaho)—The Blaze reported on Friday that the two ministers who own and operate the "Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, who have been caught up in a legal challenge because they refused to perform same-gender marriages, may now be in the clear.

Donald and Evelyn Knapp reportedly changed their business status to "religious corporation," though still remaining a for-profit business.

Due to this change, the American Civil Liberties Union of Idaho has announced it will not pursue a legal battle against the Hitching Post, because the new status likely exempts them from having to perform gay marriage ceremonies so long as they only perform "faith-based weddings"—no other services such as wedding cakes or flowers can be offered.

However, according to The Blaze report, the Hitching Post could still fall under Coeur d'Alene's non-discrimination ordinance unless they become a not-for-profit religious corporation.

But, for now, the ACLU appears to be leaving it alone.
