Hope in Ebola Fight? These Two African Countries Declared "Ebola Free," Monitoring Lifted for at Least 43 in Texas-No Symptoms

The World Health Organization praised Senegal's swift response to the Ebola outbreak there, which included; identifying and monitoring 74 close contacts of the patient, prompt testing of all suspected cases, stepped-up surveillance at the country's many entry points and nationwide public awareness campaigns.

The 43 people in Texas, who had been in a 21-day monitoring period after having come in contact with Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, have now been officially cleared after they demonstrated no symptoms during that time.

Five others will likely be cleared soon, according to the report. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins remarked, "Thankfully, they are all asymptomatic, and it looks like none of them will get Ebola."

Meanwhile, two countries in Africa were declared to be "Ebola-free" on Monday, they are: Nigeria and Senegal.
