(Texas)—According to an AP report on Thursday, a federal appeals court handed down permission for Texas to "fully enforce" the abortion law which was signed by Gov. Rick Perry last year, and which would effectively shut down all but 7 abortion facilities in the state. (Photo via Fox News)

The law actually helps protect the health of women who go into clinics, requiring those facilities to be staffed with doctors who have "hospital admitting privileges," in case those services are needed.

In August, a lower court had blocked those requirements, but the decision by the 5th US Circuit Court in New Orleans removed the lower block from the lower court, which had been celebrated by pro-abortion activists.

Attorney General Greg Abbott, defended the law saying, "This decision is a vindication of the careful deliberation by the Texas Legislature to craft a law to protect the health and safety of Texas women."
