"In the spirit of the timeless words spoken to Joshua over 3,000 years ago, 'Let us be strong and of good courage.' Let us confront this peril, secure our future and, God willing, forge an enduring peace for generations to come." -Benjamin Netanyahu, UNGA Address 2009.

According to a Breaking Israel News (BIN) report, Netanyahu was "clearly telling the world that Israel will not stand idly by as the Jewish nation's enemies try to slander and destroy the nation."

Said Netanyahu in his address: "Isaiah, our great prophet of peace, taught us nearly 3,000 years ago in Jerusalem to speak truth to power. 'For the sake of Zion, I will not be silent, for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not be still until her justice shines bright and her salvation glows like a flaming torch.' Ladies and gentlemen, let us light a torch of truth and justice to safeguard our common future."

In his address last year, Benjamin Netanyahu again noted Scripture, saying: "In our time the Biblical prophecies are being realized. As the prophet Amos said, 'They shall rebuild ruined cities and inhabit them. They shall plant vineyards and drink their wine. They shall till gardens and eat their fruit. And I will plant them upon their soil never to be uprooted again.' Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Israel have come home never to be uprooted again."
