Pope Francis Says Radical Islam Must be Stopped

On Monday this week, while boarding a plane from South Korea, Francis was quoted as telling reporters that the world would be justified in stopping Islamist militants in Iraq.

According to a Thomson Reuters report, the pontiff said, "In these cases [such as the United States strikes against Islamic State insurgents] where there is an unjust aggression, I can only say that it is legitimate to stop the unjust aggressor."

Francis said he's also considering visiting northern Iraq to show solidarity with persecuted Christians, but has not yet made a decision.
