The Christian Doctor and Ebola Patient's Unselfish Gesture, and What's being Called "the Gift of Life" He Received in Return

The global medical community is also reaching out in their own way. Latest reports reveal an experimental serum was offered was offered to Brantly on Wednesday. When the doctor was told there was only one dose, however, he declined it.

Nancy WhitebolFranklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse, said, "Dr. Brantly asked that it [the dose] be given to Nancy Writebol. However, Dr. Brantly received a unit of blood from a 14-year-old boy who has survived Ebola because of Dr. Brantly's care. An official statement from the mission organization SIM, of which Writebol was employed, read: "We continue to pray for Nancy's full and complete recovery. Even though her condition has worsened, we know she is receiving the best possible medical care, and we are thankful that she has access to this experimental drug. We believe in the power of prayer and ask people around the world not only to pray for Nancy and Kent, but also for everyone affected by this terrible virus."
