The shootings—which have since been labeled as a hate crime—happened at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas and also the Village Shalom Retirement Community in Leawood, Kansas.

According to a FOX News report, two of the three people killed were identified as Dr. William Lewish Corporon and his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood—they were both said to be Christians.

Reat's mother spoke at a vigil for the victims Sunday night telling those in attendance, "I was there before the police and I was there before the ambulance. And I knew immediately that they were in Heaven, and I know that they're in Heaven together."

She added, "I got to tell both of them today that I loved them."

Their family asked for privacy to mourn.

The third victim of the shooting was Terri Lamanno, 53, of Kansas City. She was a member of a Catholic church there and had been visiting her mother on Sunday, as she reportedly did regularly, when she was shot and killed.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his condolences to the families of the victims saying, "We condemn the murder which all signs show, was perpetrated out of hatred for Jews."
