Pope Francis Speaks Up for Life; Calls Practice of Abortion "horrific"

"It is horrific even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day."

Pope Francis left no doubt of his feelings toward the subject of abortion, Monday, when he called it "horrific" during a "State of the World" address.

The speech was the pontiff's yearly message to "diplomats accredited to the Vatican," according to the Reuters report.

Pope Francis had been criticized some, because—until now—he hadn't spoken against abortion as vehemently as did the two most recent popes before him.

During Monday's annual address, the pope said, "It is horrific even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day."
