And this husband and wife team is accomplishing just that as they minister to "gangbangers, prostitutes, homeless alcoholics, single moms and ‘good' kids with abusive parents," according to Charisma magazine.
The center meets needs in a practical way with after-school programs and tutoring, emergency shelter and food as well as a service for the youth on Sunday nights.
Pastors Ron and Judy Radachy founded Oasis of Hollywood in 1993, in its current location, only 6 blocks from the famous Kodak Theater and Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
"This is a very oppressive area," remarked Ron in an interview for Charisma, "It's like someone handed you a 10-pound weight to carry around and you carry it easily for a while, but then it starts to wear you down. There's obviously a spiritual influence on the kids here."
And it's no wonder since Oasis is located only blocks from a supermarket for occultists and a satanist haven. Another ten-minute walk brings you to a hangout for prostitution.
Well-known Christian leaders who have visited the Radachy's ministry have praised their work in the midst of the difficult area. Pastor of Phoenix First Assembly and co-pastor of The Dream Center; Tommy Barnett said, "Ron and Judy have really made a difference in the world. It seems that every hurting child in Hollywood has passed through their doors."
Jack Hayford, founding pastor of the Church on the Way called them "servants of the highest caliber as they love and give unselfishly to those around them bringing the light and life of Jesus in Hollywood" and that "there is not a part of this world where there are missionaries who are more faithfully penetrating the darkness than where the Radachy's are."
