UPDATED: [New Instructions to Leave a Comment] FCC Delays Ruling on Loosening TV Moral Standards

UPDATED! Follow the new instructions in this article to send your opinion to the FCC before August 2nd.

FCCThe Federal Communications Commission has postponed making a decision on whether to allow more nudity and profanity on television until August 2.

The Hill newspaper reported that regulators are extending the deadline for the public to comment on the proposal.

The FCC has reportedly already received more than 100,000 comments, most of them in opposition.

"We recognize the importance of affording all interested parties sufficient time to review the comments in the Docket and to prepare their reply comments," the FCC said. "We also respect the interest of the public in having sufficient time for review and consideration of the various positions and concerns."

If you'd like to register your opinion with the FCC, below are UPDATED directions for leaving a comment with the FCC:

1. 1. First, write your own comment and save on your computer as a document or text file.
2. Go to the FCC website.
3. Enter the code "13-86" in the "Proceeding Number" box and fill out the few remaining required fields with a RED dot next to them.
4. Find the button that says: "Upload a File" under the heading "Documents"
5. Use the button to upload your text file.
6. Click "Continue"
7. On the new page click “Confirm” – Your comment should now be on file with the FCC.

SAMPLE: I oppose any changes to the current FCC indecency standards that would allow television and radio stations to broadcast expletives and nudity on the public airwaves, even if brief or "fleeting."
