No doubt Trace Adkins knew the money would be needed, but no one knew just how much or how soon the country music star's winnings, Sunday night on the All-Star Celebrity Apprentice show, would be put to use.

Trace AdkinsAs Adkins took home the All-Star Celebrity title, the Red Cross received more than $1.5 million from the win, as that was Adkins' designated charity.

"The Red Cross was there when I couldn't be," Adkins explained, "I'm a man who tries to repay my debts."

The award-winning country star's motivation was the way the Red Cross responded with help for his wife and children after Adkins' home was destroyed by a house fire.

For that reason, and after witnessing the devastation after Sandy, and how the Red Cross responded with help there, Adkins had chosen to compete on the show for the Red Cross.

As Tornado warnings sounded in Oklahoma on Sunday, the Red Cross was reportedly already mobilizing aid for the areas that appeared to be in the storm's path. They have been helping people in the tornado-ravaged suburbs of Oklahoma City, particularly in the city of Moore, ever since.

On May 18th Adkins received the Red Cross Crystal Cross Award in "recognition of his exemplary support and service to the Red Cross mission."
