In case you've been a bit disheartened by the apparent decline of morality in society of late, there was a very bright spot this week . . .

Having been witness to several such gatherings in the past, I know it's a time for Believing students to stand for their faith, while praying for their school, teachers and peers.

Sometimes it is just the spark needed to ignite further prayer gatherings—always student initiated, which is protected under our constitution—and sometimes it can open the door to discussions of faith around lunchroom tables and even in classrooms.

After watching my own daughter take part in a SYATP prayer gathering years ago, I can identify with one mother's comment after returning from seeing her son pray with others this week.

"I just got back from my son's middle school's SYATP in Miamisburg, Ohio. It was his first time going. I cried happy tears to see all those kids loving the Lord and being proud of it," she said, according to a Charisma News report. "When it was my son's time to say a pray [sic] he asked God to keep His hands on our schools and on our country. I was so proud of him and so thankful that we have the freedom to do this."

The Lord has used the SYATP movement since its inception with just a handful of students back in 1990; it has grown exponentially and no doubt His hand is on this young faithful remnant of warriors for His Kingdom.
