Prayer initiative coming soon to Portland, Oregon.
(Portland, OR)—From September 30—October 6, a prayer initiative called "Seven"—because of the seven days it runs—will be conducted in the Portland area. What began with one church only four years ago, has now become a major, city-wide campaign.
"It is a genuinely grassroots effort," said Kevin Paulau, president of the Luis Palau Association, which has joined forces with a number of other churches to host the outreach.
Kurt Kroon, director of an outreach ministry at New Hope Church, said "It's not complicated; there's nothing much bigger or grander going on. It's something that lots of churches can get behind and be part of."
Notes the "Seven" website: "What if Portland woke up to the fact that God is alive and at work? What if this city, instead of being known as a liberal, pluralistic society, defined by apathy, entitlement and brokenness was transformed by the Gospel of Jesus and became known among the nations as a place where God is alive? . . . He desires to bless this city and see it prosper."
