Missouri Passes Right to Pray Amendment

Among other things, the amendment protects the right to pray on government property and prohibits the state from coercing religious activity.

Known as the "Right to Pray" bill, Amendment 2 also protects voluntary prayer in public schools and requires that the schools display a copy of the Bill of Rights.

Kerry Messer, president of the Missouri Family Network, told the Kansas City Star, "The public feels like the Supreme Court took [the religious liberty to pray] away from them over 50 years ago with a ruling against mandatory school prayer."
