(Jerusalem)—As noted in a Stand by Israel report, nearly a dozen "holy books" have made their way to the National Library in Jerusalem from Syria following a "multi-continent, James-Bond style operation." (photo: AP)

According to the report, some of the books are 1,000 years old and the "Damascus books" are considered the world's most ancient Bibles after the Aleppo Codex.

Said Eliyahu Hasson, chairman of the community of Damascus Jews in Israel: "It was one of the most important operations we participated in."
