(Erie, Pennsylvania)—While John Kanzius, of Erie, Pennsylvania, was working, recently, on one of the devices he'd developed to treat cancer, he inadvertently may have stumbled on a new and abundant fuel.

Kanzius was attempting to desalinate saltwater using a radio frequency generator he had put together, originally as an invention to kill cancer cells. According to the FOX News report, the radio frequencies caused the hydrogen in the saltwater to ignite and burn.

Retired Penn State Chemistry professor, Roy Rustum, confirms the discovery with his own demonstrations, touting the discovery as the "most remarkable in water science in 100 years."

Says Rustum, "This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere. Seeing it burn gives me the chills."
