Church Helps Couples Learn How To Be 'Radically Married'

by Kay Adkins / Teresa Neumann reporting : Feb 23, 2005 : Baptist Press News

Peter and Debbie Livingston of Del City, Oklahoma, nearly divorced in 1987. It was a turning point in their lives. "I literally fell on my face and asked God to turn my life inside out. To show me how to restore my family." Peter realized he had been giving his family the leftovers.

"Relationship is what people want," he says. "We spend precious little time teaching people in our congregations [how to achieve it]." Livingston uses the Radically Married course to show that all of life's deepest questions are answered in Jesus, and nothing is taken for granted.

"We assume no one knows the biblical principles for marriage and family," Livingston said. "People who thought they were saved have gone through it and found they didn't really even know the Lord." "If the families are working," he adds, "the church will work. If not, there are divisions and financial stresses. Someone has to be beating the drum."
