Even CBS -- on a 60 Minutes segment from April 30 and now posted online -- has judged Dan Brown's, The Da Vinci Code to be historically bogus.
Correspondent Ed Bradley, who narrated the program, explained the investigation led by CBS into the theories purported by Brown. Their research took them to Priory of Sion, now called Rennes le Chateau, in the foothills of the French Pyrenees.(Photo: CBS-60 Mins.)
Investigative authors Bill Putnam and John Edwin Wood call the DaVinci claims an "elaborate hoax." Asked where they would place this hoax in the list of hoaxes that have been perpetrated throughout history, Putnam and John Edwin Wood both said "at the top."
