Disney TV Star Warns That Deception in the Church Lies in Being Impassive, Taking the Path of Least Resistance: "The Cost of Our Silence"

Michael Ireland : Oct 28, 2016  Assist News Service

"We have to destroy the notion that social issues are 'political' issues and Christians must avoid addressing them in public. This is a deception of the enemy! Every financial, political, and social issue is a moral issue, and the Bible has instruction in every single area of life. Christians must not be silent…" – David Fiorazo

(Minneapolis, MN) — [Assist News Service] David Fiorazo is an author, writer, content contributor, public speaker, and radio personality who loves God and country. He has been involved in the broadcasting and entertainment industries for over thirty years and in Christian ministry for over twenty five years. Fiorazo loves the Word of God, and strives to defend and proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ without apology or compromise. (Photo Credit: Assist News Service)

Fiorazo grew up in a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, toured the United States as a drummer in Christian bands in the 1980's, moved to California, worked in radio, managed restaurants, and trained professionally as an actor in Hollywood and Los Angeles. He worked in commercials and various television shows including small roles on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and Golden Girls. David starred in an independent film in 2003, premiering at Disney Studios in Burbank, CA, and began writing and disciplined Bible study.

Although he attended church with his family in those early years, he admits struggling with a short attention span — and going through the motions. Through deaths in his family and the school of hard knocks, David finally turned to God.

As a member of Christian bands, Fiorazo got to travel across the country. He noticed a lack of understand of, and passion for, God as well as a culture bent on entertainment, and became concerned about fading family values in America. What he observed was -- and is -- a culture in obvious moral decline; but few were speaking up! More concerning was the growing complacency among Christians and the lack of salt and light in society.

Chasing the acting bug in the 1990s and working in both Christian radio and in Hollywood, Fiorazo had one of his bigger roles on General Hospital the same year he realized God was calling him and his wife, Rosanna, to the Midwest. After realizing how committed atheists and leftists are to their cause, he became more involved in the cultural and political battles.

David states: "I wasted many years on selfish pursuits and lukewarm Christianity. Since I've recommitted to live as fully as possible for Christ, it's easy to see the Church in desperate need of restoration and revival. How can we remain neutral? "I am passionate about truth and am convinced America would be much better off if we lived what we profess to believe, and if we shared the Gospel without compromise."

Tired of living with one foot in the faith and another foot in the world, Fiorazo decided to stop being a lukewarm, hypocritical Christian and press on toward the goal to reach people for Jesus Christ. In his own words, David is no longer merely a "professing" Believer. (Photo Credit: Assist News Service)

He says: "It is impossible to be a part-time Christian."

One catalyst that led him to start blogging and writing was what David calls, "the most corrupt, one-sided media in American history that refuses to report the truth." Christians were buying the media's bias. Because of his love for the Lord, for old-school journalism, and his desire to raise awareness, David was compelled to get out of his comfort zone and take action by writing, speaking, and encouraging others.

Then, upon seeing how liberalism is infecting Christian churches, and more Believers falling for the watered-down teachings of emergent church leaders, he decided to work to help inform and encourage Believers to repent, grow in the Word of God, and speak the truth in love.

The message is not a popular one, but David Fiorazo is undaunted to do his best to fight the good fight of faith and be a watchman on the wall for those willing to listen. He would love to make more disciples and culture warriors for Christ!

"The Cost of our Silence," published by Aneko Press seeks to develop this thesis contained in the sub-title: "Consequences of Christians Taking the Path of Least Resistance."

Assist News Service caught up with David to examine the importance of his timely, but disturbing, message.

"I strongly believe God put it on my heart to write this book to Christians," David said. "Too many are wondering what has happened to America while others have backed out of culture because they are either overwhelmed by the rapid increase of immorality or afraid to speak up. As the Church goes, so goes America, and it is imperative we have a sense of urgency because lives and souls and nations are at stake."

Fiorazo's goal in writing the book, "is obedience to the Lord, that this book will glorify the name of Jesus and lead people [back] to Him – to return to their first love and understand the times in which we live."

He continues: "My prayer is that individually, God's people will repent and engage culture for Christ once again, obeying our commission to preach the Gospel and not be silent in the face of evil. I also pray the book provides hope and helps people cultivate an eternal perspective as we live out these last days unashamed of the One who died for us, rose again, and saved us eternally."

He was asked how and in what ways God prepared him to write.

"I believe in order to hear from the Lord and receive confirmations as well as the leading of the Holy Spirit, it is necessary to invest quality time in His presence by reading God's Word and praying. That's where I had to start," he said.

"An eternal perspective allows us to see the big picture. Then, I stepped out in faith, since He promises to direct us. Spiritual preparation must come first. I then sought to do the work; the research, news gathering, and reading up on history before mapping out the chapters and doing the writing. I am thankful for the consistent book sales and hope God continues to use the book to impact people with a fresh understanding of Jesus, insight on our nation, and the responsibility of Christians to be active and vocal as we trust God's sovereignty and strive to see the world through a Biblical worldview."

What are the Spiritual dynamics at play here?

"The spiritual dynamic is our apathy, which leads to compromise and a weakened witness for Jesus. We are told throughout Scripture to wake up, redeem the time, stand strong in the Lord, and not allow ourselves to be deceived. We have failed miserably. The subtitle of the book, 'The Consequences of Christians Taking the Path of Least Resistance,' points to our Isaiah 5:20 culture in which evil is now being called good and good, evil," he said.

"A big part of the problem is we have conformed to this world and have allowed liberalism into the Church. As a result we have had countless casualties and many have fallen away from the faith. The cult of Liberalism infected the Body of Christ in America; some are deceived while others are deceivers, but liberalism calling itself Christian is one of the most dangerous cults to the modern Church. One thing we can do is call out false teachers and teachings by shining light on the deeds of darkness in order to expose them (Ephesians 5:11)."

Assist News Service noted that in the introduction to his book he writes: "America has more than 300,000 churches, but few would contest that our Christian influence is decreasing as the nation becomes more secularized." He was asked how has that happened?

"As Christians began backing out of society over a century ago and thus, removing the necessary, preserving salt, deceivers were already watering down the Bible, questioning the inerrancy of Scripture and the sufficiency of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

"Leaders in the church generally did not set a good example of preaching the whole counsel of God, living it, and influencing every aspect of American society as most of our Founders sought out to do. Fear is definitely at the root of this problem. Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, 'Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak; not to act is to act. God will not hold us guiltless.'"

He continued: "The enemy understands the importance of influence. We have lost major areas of influence such as the entertainment industry, Hollywood, government and public schools, higher education, the media, and the enemies of God are working on the Church.

"So yes, these things must be confronted and addressed; our seeking the approval of man rather than God, fear of being called intolerant or hateful, our extreme lack of Biblical knowledge and understanding; our idolatry – allowing money, entertainment, leisure, and other worldly things to take the place of God."

Fiorazo pointed out, that in research for the book, he came across other similar situations in history.

"There are shocking parallels between 1930's Germany when Hitler came to power and the 1960s in America when the courts were began to be used to trump the will of the people. Bibles, prayer, and religious instruction were removed from schools in both nations by a secular government, people allowed government to become god - and the rest is history. It's just taken a bit longer in this nation. Things are falling into place and setting up the fulfillment of End Times prophecies just as the Bible describes. Even in the Old Testament, the nation of Israel was warned time after time and God was patient with the people but eventually, they did not repent and God judged Israel. Can we expect God to stay His hand of judgment on a rebellious people in America when He did not spare His own? Our time is running out!"

In the book's Conclusion, Fiorazo says that, "if Christians do not see the need to repent, America has no chance of preservation." He was asked to explain why this is so important, what is it going to take to reach that point, and does he believe this situation can be turned around?

"Unbelievers need to hear the Gospel and see strong Christians in culture," he said.

"The problem is the Gospel is not being preached due to fear and a lack of priorities. With 75 percent of Americans professing some form of Christianity, our culture is darker and more immoral than ever in our history so something doesn't quite add up. The key word is "professing" to be Christian; many are claiming to be saved when in fact, they are living for the world and we often cannot tell them apart from unbelievers in public. This is a huge problem. Repentance is key to conviction of sin as well as a return to Jesus and the Biblical principles that made this nation great.

"Without true Christians seeking first the Kingdom of God, standing for righteousness and speaking the truth in love, we are in danger of continuing down the current path of destruction."

He continued: "What will it take? Persecution perhaps; only the Lord God knows, but it may be a catastrophic event of some kind. I am not sure why we feel so comfortable and at home in this world with all that is going on around the world and the chaos in our culture. Our eternal citizenship is in Heaven (Phil. 3:20).

"Jesus is standing outside the door of a lukewarm Church knocking, wanting to be allowed back in. Individually, we must open the door of our hearts and allow Him full access or the Church and nation will sink like the Titanic. We in America just may not have hit the massive iceberg yet."

Fiorazo concluded: "Two more things: Yes, we have to destroy the notion that social issues are 'political' issues and Christians must avoid addressing them in public. This is a deception of the enemy! Every financial, political, and social issue is a moral issue, and the Bible has instruction in every single area of life. Christians must not be silent on the most pressing issues of our times such as abortion – destroying lives in the womb, God-ordained, natural marriage, government corruption, the true history of socialism, social justice apostasy, etc.

"Also, we are nearly illiterate where Bible prophecy is concerned. This is why I ended the book with overwhelming, indisputable hope in the truth of Scripture and fulfilled prophecies. The evidence in the Bible, including countless hundreds of eye-witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, demands a verdict.

"You can ignore evidence, fact, and history, but that won't change the eternal truth of the only loving God."
