Naghmeh Abedini Posts about Her Personal Journey to Denounce Islam"Man-made religions are all empty labels that will not give us access to God. Access to God is only possible through Jesus Christ." [CBN News] Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of imprisoned American Pastor Saeed Abedini, kicked off her new year with a three-week fast. (Photo via CBN News) In a Facebook post Monday, she said, "The focus of the fast is to spend more time in the presence of the Lord and to draw closer to the heart of God. I will be sharing Scripture and what the Lord lays on my heart for each day." She also shared about her personal journey to denouce Islam and become a Christian. "It can mean letting go of everything you have been taught and have believed to be true," she wrote. "It might mean losing your community, friends and your family." "When I became a follower of Jesus at the age of 9 I had to let go of all I had been taught as a Muslim despite the cost and the rejection and the persecution that came from my own family," she said the post. "In the same way if you want to follow Jesus, then you will have to let go of all you have been taught and have believed and be willing to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and accept the Bible as God's Living Word and the final authority in your life despite the cost," she wrote. "Man-made religions are all empty labels that will not give us access to God. Access to God is only possible through Jesus Christ," she said. Late last year, Naghmeh pulled back her public fight to see her husband freed from prison in Iran. Saeed has been held in an Iranian jail for more than three years for his Christian faith. Naghmeh reported the emotional stress of the efforts to gain his freedom, along with "abuse" issues in her marriage before and since Saeed's imprisonment, had taken a toll. (Photo via Facebook) CBN News contacted the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents the Abedini family, for a response. "In recent days, Naghmeh—Pastor Saeed's wife—has revealed that she is dealing with some very serious personal issues inside her family. She has asked for privacy and prayer. We are respecting her request. The ACLJ will not have any comment on the personal issues that she is addressing," the ACLJ told CBN News. In December she posted on Facebook, "The truth is that I still love my husband more than ever and my advocacy for him has taken a few form of interceding on my knees. The truth is I can not deny Saeed's love and passion for Jesus and that he continues to suffer in the Iranian prison because of his genuine love for Jesus and his refusal to deny Him."
