CDC Suddenly Admits Droplets From a Sneeze or Cough Could Spread Ebola"I'm not going to sit here and say that if a person who [has Ebola] were to sneeze or cough right in the face of somebody who wasn't protected, that we wouldn't have a transmission." -Tom Skinner, spokesman for the CDC (Washington, DC)—After months of denying that Ebola can be spread through coughing or sneezing, the CDC appears to concede that the deadly virus can, indeed, be spread in that manner. As reported by the New York Post, Dr. Meryl Nass of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, DC, referred to a poster the CDC had "quietly released" on its website which said Ebola can be spread through "droplets." "Droplet spread happens when germs traveling inside droplets that are coughed our sneezed from a sick person enter the eyes, nose or mouth of another person," the poster reads. Said Nass: "The CDC said it doesn't spread at all by air, then they [come out] with the poster. They admit that these particles or droplets may land on objects such as doorknobs and that Ebola can be transmitted that way." The report also quoted Dr. Rossi Hassad, a professor of epidemiology at Mercy College, as saying droplets could remain active for up to a day."
