According to the BusinessWeek.com report, Cameron's day began with the resignation of Culture Secretary Maria Miller, on Wednesday morning. Later, Cameron candidly told the gathering of Christian leaders and politicians that "The Bible tells us to bear one another's burdens. After the day I've had, I'm definitely looking for volunteers."

During the reception, the PM reportedly thanked the churches for their compassionate work amongst their communities; mentioning the growth of food banks for the poor, and the plight of persecuted Christians throughout the world.

Following a soprano's performance of Ave Maria, PM Cameron referred to Jesus Christ as "our Savior" and told the group of the "moments of greatest peace" that come "perhaps every other Thursday morning" when he reportedly 'slips into' St. Mary Abbots, a Kensington church associated with his children's school. Cameron said he finds "a little bit of peace and hopefully a bit of guidance" there, according to the report.

BusinessWeek noted that recent prime ministers have typically avoided the subject of personal faith, keeping it more private.
