Lack of Exercise Not as Bad as Smoking? Think Again

The good news is that the fix is simple—get moving!

(United Kingdom)—Just in case you've been justifying your couch-potato habits by saying, "Well, at least I don't smoke…" A recent UK study showed that adult inactivity causes "just as many deaths as smoking."

According to the study, researchers feel it has reached a "pandemic" stage, and that more should be made known to the public regarding the dangers of inactivity, since stating the benefits of regular exercise seems to be going largely unheard.

The good news is that the fix is simple—get moving!

But, how much exercise is enough to make a difference?

The EverydayHealth.com website notes that to maintain general health benefits, a routine of daily walking might be sufficient for some, however, for others who may want to lower blood pressure or lose weight, some cardiovascular or mild weight lifting may be in order.
