World Renowned Tree House for God

Teresa Neumann : Jul 23, 2012 : Amy McRary – Knox News

"God watches over it. It's His. I tell everyone to pray for me that God will finish the work He started." -Horace Burgess

(Crossville, TN)—Horace Burgess is a 61-year-old landscape architect, minister, and Vietnam vet whose road to Christ has culminated in a 10-story, 14,000-square-foot, world famous tree house. At its very center, the tree house features a "light-filled sanctuary that's both chapel and basketball court."

"It's a prayer and praise chapel and a basketball court all at the same time," he said. "I feel like you have to be a well-rounded person to be a good Christian, physically fit and mentally stable and spiritually equipped."

Burgess says he spent his early years running away from Christ. With an abiding passion to build, he began building his current tree house by initially constructing a winding stairway up an 80-foot-tall white oak.

One day, the report notes, Burgess climbed his "staircase to nowhere" and sat down and prayed when he reached the top. He said the Spirit of God told him, "If you build Me a tree house, I'll never let you run out of material." He also says he received a vision of what the tree house should look like.

With God's confirming word in his heart and the total support of his wife, Burgess has never stopped building. Today, people from all around the world come to see his "sign and wonder."

If you find yourself in Burgess' neck of the woods, stop by and see it. It's all free.
