(Standwood, Washington)—Back in April of this year, Breaking Christian News ran an article about GPC Missions, a non-profit organization whose goal is helping children who may have otherwise been overlooked.

Through the "eyes and ears in communities" a young person's particular need can be zeroed in on and brought to the attention of others who are willing to pitch in and help.

One current need is that of 8-year-old Kyle Felver from Stanwood, WA. Diagnosed in 2010 with an "un-diagnosable neuro-degenerative disorder," which—according to the GPC alert—is "likely a type of mitochondrial myopathy" which means he may not live very long. It's said to be "equal to childhood cancer and has no known cure."

Most of Kyle's day is spent in his wheelchair, and he has a respiratory assist system while he sleeps.

All of this, however, has not dampened Kyle's spirit or his passion for racing. He competes with healthy friends and peers on the same level, as they race quarter midgets. It was one of these friends of Kyle's, named O'Riley Benda, who first made GPC Missions aware of Kyle's condition, his love for racing and his desire to compete at the QMA Western Grand Nationals coming July 21-29 to Portland, Oregon; a big event for quarter midget racing.

Kyle would also like to be able to race with his Grandfather in the Dirt Grand Nationals in August.

Why is this something that GPC Missions has taken on? According to Curtis R. Steinhauer, Outreach Director for GPC Missions; because of Kyle's condition, this could be his last year of racing.

"This has become the biggest and most unusual mission that GPC Missions has done to date, but the on-going response has been truly amazing," explains Steinhauer.

"From all across the nation, people have begun to not only donate money toward helping Kyle, they have also been providing parts and materials for the race cars in order for them to be race ready," Steinhauer added. "This has caused us to be in awe of what God is doing through this young man, the racing community and GPC with each new day. The story of Kyle has just begun, and GPC will continue to help Kyle achieve his dreams."
