G. W. Bush Volunteers at Clinic in Zambia

Former president braves terrorist threats to help build cancer treatment center.

Pres and Laura Bush in Zambia (Lusaka, Zambia)—Multiple news sources are reporting that due to the great love President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, felt toward the country of Zambia when they first visited, they have returned to roll up their sleeves and do volunteer work at the Ngungu Health Center.

They will also reportedly provide $50,000 to improve the University Teaching Hospital there.

Their work is part of the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon initiative of Bush Foundation's support of cancer treatment in Africa. The Bush Foundation supports a school in the region as well.

According to a Voice of America report, Zambia has one of the highest incidences of cervical cancer in the world.
