One Heart, Many Hands—GPC Helps bring Peace to Children through their "Network of Seekers"

Aimee Herd : Apr 23, 2012 : GPCMissions.org

"Our goal is that our fellow GPC Members will grow spiritually in this journey, and that all of God's children will be encouraged and equipped to pay it forward in the future." –Darin Phillips

What happens when a small group of Christian friends act on their common burden to help bring peace to children who desperately need it, near their home and all around the world?

…A unique non-profit organization is born.

The organization is known as GPC (Giving Peace to Children) Missions. It's unique in the way it relies on networking and the "eyes and ears in communities" who see those often overlooked needs and alert the missions staff to them. These members are called a "Network of Seekers."

Darin PhillipsGPC's Founder & Executive Director, Darin Phillips says that, "Anyone can get their hands dirty. Anyone who is involved in GPC Missions can find a need and help us deliver peace to the child that is involved. With GPC Missions, we accept anyone and everyone into our family and we will love them unconditionally. This is a real, grass-roots effort, giving anyone an opportunity to be Jesus in their own community.

"We seek to EQUIP others to be like Jesus. We do not simply want to give the gift of PEACE or be a benevolent organization. We want to help others become more like Jesus. We will love and embrace anyone and everyone unconditionally. Our goal is that our fellow GPC Members will grow spiritually in this journey, and that all of God's children will be encouraged and equipped to pay it forward in the future."

Kelli Albright is GPC Missions Coordinator for Oregon and SW Washington. She told about the help that some former Sunday School students of hers received from GPC after their family (with 6 children) lost their home to a fire. The help from GPC extended across the miles to Michigan where the family had moved prior to the tragedy. GPC Missions essentially closed the gap by providing the children with gift cards for Walmart to help buy essentials for them as they got back on their feet.

Kelli notes that "with any of the help that is given, Bibles are provided as the 'peace' to the needy children."

From the group of five friends who began GPC; there are now members in all 50 states and GPC is involved with mission projects internationally as well.

Phillips reiterates though, that however big the innovative mission grows, they will always retain their original focus.

"GPC Missions was founded upon a network of friends who share a common faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for helping children in need," says Phillips. "Now, with thousands of members world-wide, that concept has not changed, nor will it.

GPC Missions is a collaborative effort of thousands of friends with a common faith in God, who is our foundation, and ultimate Director."
